US Stock Market Hours in UAE Time (GST)

US stock market hours in UAE time: the 09:30 to 16:00 ET session runs 17:30 to 00:00 GST in US summer and 18:30 to 01:00 GST in winter, plus premarket.

US stock market hours in UAE time run 17:30 to 00:00 GST while the United States is on daylight saving time, and 18:30 to 01:00 GST for the rest of the year. The UAE has never observed daylight saving. The local clock sits at UTC+4 every day of the year, and the whole American session slides by one hour twice a year instead. What follows is the full US day, from premarket at 04:00 ET through after hours to 20:00 ET, on a Gulf Standard Time clock, measured off the tape rather than assumed.

What time does the US stock market open in UAE time?

Gulf Standard Time, GST, is UTC+4 and never moves. New York sits at UTC-4 from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November, and at UTC-5 for the remainder of the year. That leaves a gap of either eight or nine hours between the two cities, and that gap is the only quantity you need to convert any US session boundary into a local one.

The panel below measures the gap instead of assuming it. It takes every SPY minute bar stamped 09:30 in New York across ten consecutive sessions in late 2025, converts the same instant into Dubai time, and works the rest of the schedule off the measured difference. Five of those sessions sit on each side of the November clock change.

On Mon Oct 27, 2025, New York sat 8 hours behind the UAE and the opening bell landed at 17:30 GST. On Fri Nov 7, 2025, after the United States had gone back to standard time, the gap measured 9 hours and the same bell rang at 18:30 GST. Nothing about the UAE clock differs between those two rows.

Read across a row and you have the entire US day locally. Premarket opens at 12:00 GST on the US summer clock and 13:00 GST on the winter clock. The regular close falls at 00:00 GST and 01:00 GST. After-hours trading runs to 04:00 GST and 05:00 GST. A US half day, when the tape stops at 1:00 p.m. ET, ends at 21:00 GST and 22:00 GST. The US schedule itself is identical in both cases; our stock market hours guide sets it out in ET.

Which parts of the US day fall on the next local date?

On the US summer clock the 16:00 ET closing bell is 00:00 GST, local midnight exactly, and every minute of after-hours trading that follows prints on the next UAE calendar date. On the winter clock the boundary moves earlier into the session: the final hour of regular trading, 15:00 to 16:00 ET, already belongs to the next local day, and the bell rings at 01:00 GST.

A US Monday session opens on Monday evening in the UAE and closes on Tuesday morning. A US Friday session closes on Saturday in local terms during the winter months, with its after-hours block finishing at 05:00 GST on Saturday morning, when DFM and ADX are shut for the weekend. Anyone reconciling a trade confirmation against a local bank statement is looking at two different calendar dates for one session.

What changes on 1 November 2026?

The United States leaves daylight saving on Sunday 1 November 2026 and returns to it on Sunday 14 March 2027. Neither date touches the UAE clock. What moves is the local time of every US session boundary, by exactly one hour, starting with the first session after each switch.

From Monday 2 November 2026, the opening bell shifts from 17:30 GST to 18:30 GST, the close from 00:00 GST to 01:00 GST, and the end of after hours from 04:00 GST to 05:00 GST. Everything shifts back on Monday 15 March 2027. Quoting the offset rather than a fixed local time is what keeps a schedule correct through those two Mondays. US market hours and daylight saving walks the changeover in ET, and US market hours around the world runs the same conversion for other time zones.

Where the US volume sits on a UAE clock

Knowing when the market is open is one thing. Knowing which local hours carry real trading is another. The panel below buckets every SPY minute bar from 1 to 25 September 2026, a stretch entirely on the US summer clock, by New York clock hour, and labels each bucket with its GST equivalent.

The shape is steeply uneven. The 04:00 ET hour, which is 12:00 GST locally, averaged 0.1 million SPY shares per session and accounted for 0.23% of the shares in the whole 04:00 to 20:00 window. The closing hour, 15:00 ET or 23:00 GST, averaged 10.19 million and took 24.02% of it. For a UAE reader that is the practical point: the deepest part of the US day arrives late in the local evening, and on the winter clock it arrives after local midnight.

How much trades in the window UAE hours can reach

The only stretch of the US day that overlaps a normal UAE afternoon is the premarket, which opens at 12:00 GST in US summer and 13:00 GST in US winter. Premarket is a real session with real prints, and it is far thinner than the regular one. The panel splits September 2026 volume for five household names into the three US windows.

Across the five names, NVDA put the largest slice into the premarket window, 4.32% of its 04:00 to 20:00 total, against 89.79% inside the regular session and 5.9% after the bell. At the other end, KO traded 0.78% of its shares before 09:30 ET, with 92.3% inside the regular session. Thin windows carry wider spreads and gappier prices, which is what premarket and after-hours trading covers in detail.

Does the UAE trading week line up with the US week?

It does now. The UAE moved to a Saturday and Sunday weekend on 1 January 2022, and DFM and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange have traded Monday to Friday since. Pages still showing a Sunday to Thursday week are describing the pre-2022 calendar. As of September 2026 both exchanges run a pre-open phase from 09:30 GST, continuous trading from 10:00 to 14:45 GST, and closing phases that finish around 15:00 GST.

That local session ends before the US regular session begins on either clock, so the two never overlap. The US premarket is the single point of contact: it opens at 12:00 GST in US summer, inside the last stretch of the local afternoon, and an hour later at 13:00 GST in US winter, which trims that overlap.

Do UAE holidays close the US market?

No. UAE public holidays such as Eid al Fitr and National Day close DFM and ADX, and the US tape trades through them. The reverse holds as well: US market holidays close the US market whatever the local calendar says. The panel below lists every closure still ahead on the US exchange calendar, and for each half day it gives the GST time the tape stops.

The next closure is Thanksgiving on Thu, November 26, 58 days out, and the loaded calendar carries 12 dated closures in all. Rows tagged as an early close are half days: the market opens as usual and stops at 1:00 p.m. ET, which is 22:00 GST on the US winter clock, where the Thanksgiving Friday and Christmas Eve half days both fall. The full US market holiday and early close calendar lists them with ET times.

How these panels are built

The clock panel pins ten SPY sessions from 27 October to 7 November 2025 and reads the New York to Dubai gap off the 09:30 ET minute bar on each one. Every GST time on this page comes from that measured gap applied to the fixed US session boundaries of 04:00, 09:30, 13:00, 16:00 and 20:00 ET, which is why the page stays correct if either country changes its daylight saving rule. The two volume panels cover 1 to 25 September 2026, a period entirely on the US summer clock. The closure panel is live and rolls forward as each holiday passes.

FAQ

What time does the US stock market open in UAE time?

The 09:30 opening bell in New York lands at 17:30 GST while the United States is on daylight saving time, and at 18:30 GST for the rest of the year. Gulf Standard Time is UTC+4 all year and the UAE does not adjust its clocks.

Does the US market close after midnight in the UAE?

On the US summer clock the 16:00 ET close is 00:00 GST, local midnight. On the winter clock it is 01:00 GST, already the next local date. After-hours trading then runs to 04:00 or 05:00 GST.

Is the US stock market open on the UAE weekend?

The US market trades Monday to Friday New York time, which matches the local working week the UAE adopted in January 2022. The tail of a US Friday session does reach into Saturday morning locally, finishing at 05:00 GST on the winter clock.

Can I trade the US premarket during UAE afternoon hours?

Premarket opens at 12:00 GST on the US summer clock and 13:00 GST on the winter clock, both inside the local afternoon. Volume in that window is a small share of the day, as the per-ticker panel above measures.

Why do some pages say the UAE market week is Sunday to Thursday?

That was the calendar before 1 January 2022. DFM and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange have run a Monday to Friday week since then, which puts the local and US trading weeks on the same days.
